Following in-depth research about the Makoko settlement and responding to the UN’s sustainable development goals, our group proposed a series of floating gardens. The flotation devises for the garden beds is created from recycled plastics which are collected from the Makoko canals. The gardens allow residents to grow fresh produce, to improve the nutrition of the locals and thus reduce health issues. The gardens are watered through a filtration system, utilising the canal water as well as rain water.
